Southern Launch opened new headquarters in the Adelaide suburb of Hindmarsh in 2022 after growing its space launch services and applied space engineering consultancy in Australia.

Southern Launch’s new Hindmarsh home included warehousing of space vehicles preparing to launch as well as more office space for operational and applied research staff.

The company's chief executive Lloyd Damp said the growth of opportunities for Southern Launch stemmed from the Australian and state governments contributing to increased activities across space launch in Australia coupled, with ever growing interest in space launch activities from Australia: “Since our establishment in 2017, we have seen first hand how space policy has developed and impacted on our commercial operations. As a result, companies like Southern Launch are better supported to seek commercial opportunities in the space industry.”

Damp highlighted how the new headquarters in Hindmarsh would support Southern Launch’s operations. It would allow the company’s launch team to have access to the space vehicles on site during preparations, enabling quicker design and manufacturing iterations, and increased productivity. The increased office space allowed allow for greater in-person collaboration between Southern Launch and our partners."

Southern Launch became Australia’s leading commercial space launch provider, with space launch pads in Whalers Way and Koonibba on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.
