Sanitizit, a sanitisation system made by South Australian company SAGE Automation, was set to be exported to South America, led by Chile, in 2021.
The system was used to quickly sanitise shopping and luggage trolleys, wheelchairs and hospital gurneys by spraying a fine disinfectant over the item. SAGE partnered with the United States developer of Sanitizit to make the system at its Tonsley advanced manufacturing plant in Adelaide in 2020. The system was installed in supermarkets across Australia.
SAGE Group managing director and chief executive Adrian Fahey said exporting Sanitizit to new territories from its South Australian manufacturing plus was part of global strategy: “Integrating our locally engineered and manufactured SAGE Edge data- capture device into the sanitising units enables us to provide remote technical access and support to international clients.”
SAGE Edge was an Industry 4.0 IoT-connected device that allowed the units to be connected to SAGE’s centralised management and monitoring system, enabling it to configure, monitor, track and maintain all deployed units locally and internationally. The Edge device also collected data analytics such as machine use and status and could provide alerts for alarms and faults.
SAGE partnered with South Australian investment company Donoso & Sons to export the product to South America, with the first shipment to Chile where the aim was to increase the technology across the country, expanding into airports and hospitals.
SAGE was in talks with other companies across Europe and the Asia Pacific looking to develop similar partnerships.
