Nova Systems, headquartered in Mile, End, Adelaide, in 2020 added Norway to the governments and industry around the world using its engineering and management services.
Nova won an open and competitive $25.9 million Norwegian defence contract to support its maritime NH90 helicopter program. This significantly expands Nova’s Norwegian operations that were successfully shown with its core test and evaluation of the Norwegian all-weather search and rescue helicopter programme since 2016. Norway has operated the NH90 helicopter from coastguard ships for search and rescue and surveillance.
Nova will support the Norwegian naval frigate helicopter variant of the NH90 being introduced to further support patrolling and protecting Norwegian territorial waters, as well as contributing increased anti-submarine-warfare capability to NATO forces and operations.
Nova will initially provide 10 to12 operators, engineers and software specialists to be fully embedded with Royal Norwegian Air Force and Royal Norwegian Navy personnel at a new squadron building at Haakonsvern Naval Base near Bergen. (which accommodates 334 Squadron and the NH90 squadron).
Although rotary wing anti-submarine-warfare craft is a new capability for the Royal Norwegian Air Force, Nova has extensive experience in this domain, drawing on its staff from Norway, the United Kingdom and Australia.
Nova Systems Norway is a subsidiary of Nova Systems UK. The South Australian company first opened an office in the United Kingdom during 2012 before winning its first work in Norway the next year. Nova wants to continue helping Norway build its military capability by supporting the efficient delivery of new equipment, using effective procurement support structures.
