Giuliano and Rita Lorenzetti grew the Tweedvale Milk brand in the Adelaide Hills from the late 1980s , working with with café owners who wanted to make a point of difference with their barista-made coffee.
The Lorenzettis bought their Tweedvale Farm at Lobethal in the Hills in 1974. Over the next 25 years, they milked a small herd of Holstein Friesian cows while holding down second jobs as their two children grew up.
The milk processing business started in the late 1980s. Investing $13,000 in a small secondhand pasteuriser, they started converting milk from a handful of cows into a product they could sell directly to a local boutique cheese maker and a handful of forward-thinking gelati makers. Their business grew with the local cafe scene where freshly made gelato and pastries, coupled with lovingly-made barista coffee turned cafes into a place to be seen.
Son Carlo joined Rita and Giuliano Lorenzetti in the business employed staff in administration, bottling, operations and delivery. Tweedvale worked closely with Deliver It Group to manage all the daily deliveries to Adelaide’s cafes and supermarkets. Tweedvale Milk consistently won awards for flavour, texture and performance.
