The baseball programme at Seaton High School in Adlaide’s western suburbs became an Australian leader among the special interest sports focus of South Australian state high schools. Another western suburbs school, Henley High, dominated in the range of sports specialities but Seaton High achieved elite status in Australia with its baseball offerings.
Peter Gee, with bachelor of education and an Adelaide A Grade baseball career with Goodwood Indians, started the Seaton High baseball programme in 1994. The school’s Seaton Sharks built an unparalleled record of 34 state and nine national baseball championships. With Gee backed by visiting international coaches, Seaton High baseballers had the benefit of indoor nets with pitching machines, video cameras with slow-motion analysis software, a fully equipped gymnasium, a fenced main diamond, outdoor batting tunnels and bull pens for six pitchers. The softball specialist programme was added in 2019.
