Google plan in 2021 to join Adelaide's Lot Fourteen technology hub to add cloud uses for health research

Google would join other major technology companies Amazon and Accenture at Lot Fourteen on North Terrace, Adelaide.
Global tech giant Google announced plans in 2021 to set up a base at Lot Fourteen technology hub on North Terrace, Adelaide, with a cloud public sector team working with South Australian health and medical researchers. This followed other major technology companies Amazon and Accenture joining the hub.
Google’s Adelaide hub, also to be used as a training and event venue, was expected to focus on health research and technology, including working with the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI).
The South Australian government had been working with Google Cloud to showcase the state’s health ecosystem that included SA Health, the South Australia-Northern Territory DataLink. Google also examined how the Lot Fourteen-based Australian Institute of Machine Learning and MIT (Massachussets Institute of Technology) Living Lab were collaborating with health and medical industries.
Google Cloud public sector director in Australia and New Zealand Michael Grantham said South Australia’s health capabilities were closely aligned with Google Cloud’s strategic priorities. “We look forward to working with the government, other technology partners at Lot Fourteen, and businesses to support South Australia’s economy,” he said. Cloud computing involves delivery of on-demand services including storage and processing power over the internet.
