Sascha Detmold Cox, who became chief executive in 2023, with her Detmold sisters Zoe and Pippa added to the strong South Australian family tradition of innovation, business values and success since 1948 pursued by the Detmold Group – including Detpak, PaperPak, Detmold Medical – a global innovator in sustainable paper and board packaging.
Detmold Group was founded by Colin Detmold in 1948 in a small factory in Finders Street, Adelaide, and expanded globally under his son Rodney with expertise in nurturing opportunities for growth in a constantly evolving market. The Detmold Group in 2021 employed more than 3,000 people, with representatives in 17 countries. It had manufacturing plants across seven countries, producing more than 22,000 different food and retail packaging products, supplying some of the world’s largest and most iconic brands, including Starbucks, KFC, Kathmandu, Country Road, Krispy Crème.
Third-generation sisters of the family-owned company, Zoe Detmold and Sascha Detmold Cox both completed bachelor of marketing degrees at the University of South Australia to prepare them for general manager roles with divisions of the company. As Detmold Ventures general manager, Zoe managed specialised packaging companies alongside the Detmold Group, ensuring they had a clear strategic growth plan and operate to high standards.
Sascha Detmold Cox was initially not as intent on following the same path. But, after finding her feet in the company first marketing role, she found a passion for trailblazing in the industry as well. As group executive general manager/business enablement, Sascha looks at procurement, quality, and warehouse logistics, ensuring efficiency to operate at optimum capability. She also looked after emerging markets such as Chile and India.
The Detmold Group also partnered with the University of South Australia in projects such as testing millions of respirator and surgical that Detmold’s Detpak division made to stop the spread of Covid-19 and the production of coating for Detpak’s resilient RecycleMe takeaway coffee cups.
