Cox Architecture concept for the 16-storey Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre (EIC) as a major component of the Lot Fourteen high-technology precinct on North Terrace, Adelaide city.
A Commonwealth Bank Australia technology hub would be among tenants at the $400 million 16-storey Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre (EIC), the linchpin of Lot Fourteen precinct at the former Royal Adelaide Hospital site on North Terrace, Adelaide city.
Property private equity company Quintessential Equity, developer of the Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre, due to open in 2024, also signed a 10-year lease for a $20m Innovation Hub within the 41,000-square-metre centre. The hub, on the ground and first floors, would include an open activated area for events and collaborating, as well as indoor and al fresco dining venues.
Quintessential Equity executive chairman Shane Quinn said it would be “the centrepiece of the Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre” and an opportunity to attract and retain world-class talent: “Embodying the office and workplace of the future, the Entrepreneur and Innovation Centrwill be a powerful generator of jobs of the future — and this dedicated hub will be a place where ideas, research and entrepreneurship can thrive.”
The federal government committed up to $20 million for the innovation hub through the Adelaide City Deal, a 10-year agreement between the federal and state governments and the City of Adelaide.
Designed by Cox Architecture, the Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre building would incorporate twisting and interconnected floorplates, a faceted facade, public atrium and landscaped podium roof terrace.
At the Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre, the Commonwealth Bank would expand its technology expertise through recruiting, training and basing skilled technology employees at its technology hub, including software engineers, data scientists and cyber security specialists.
The Australian Space Agency, Australian Space Discovery Centre and Mission Control and Australian Institute for Machine Learning were already based at Lot Fourteen, and Amazon also establishing an office on the site.
